Angels are messengers from God. They protect us, guide us, or carry out other heavenly tasks.
Therefore, angel dreams symbolize a greater force that is watching over us, directing us, sheltering us, or trying to show us something important, which is hidden. The important part about angel dreams, is in translating the message within, based on what is currently happening in our spiritual and physical life.
The message can be a shared joy of something divine that has happened, a blessing of good things to come, or a warning of something we should prepare for.
Interpreting Our Dream About Angels
To interpret our dream, we want to pay special attention to the angels.
- What were the angels wearing? What is the color and texture of their wings?
- What were the angels carrying?
- Is there only a single angel or multiple angels?
- Are our dream angels male or female?
- What were the actions or expressions of the angels?
What were the angels wearing
The color and material of the angel’s clothes and wings, are part of the message that they convey.
- White clothes and wings indicate purity, peace, blessings, and rejuvenation. We may be at peace with ourselves and our life. Alternatively, the white angels may be telling us that to achieve inner peace, we need to seek greater spiritual support, need to be cleansed, and need to focus on the purity of our actions.
- Colorful clothes and wings suggest playfulness and joy. We may be looking forward to something happy and hopeful in our future, which could be a new relationship, new job, promotion, inheritance, or some other good fortune.
- Black clothes and wings signal a warning of some kind. Our physical or spiritual well-being could be in danger, we could be burdened by sin or guilt, and we may need to take some action to heal ourselves.
What were the angels holding
The items held by the angels or carried on their person, will also have great significance. We want to examine each object carefully, explore what each of them symbolizes, as well as what they each mean to us.
- Objects of knowledge such as a book or scroll, indicates greater clarity for the future, and confidence in our actions.
- Objects of war such as a sword or staff, signals that we may be experiencing some inner turmoil in our life or some disturbance in our soul. We may need to do battle to regain our spiritual equilibrium.
- Objects of love and peace such as an olive brand or a dove implies hope, care, devotion, and self-sacrifice. We may have a difficult journey ahead of us, but we have faith in a brighter future.
- Food and drink suggests that we are in need of spiritual nourishment. We may be feeling depleted and tired as a result of our daily struggles. The angel may be telling us that we need to take some time for ourselves, and refocus on our inner self and spiritual well-being.
Number of angels
- A single angel indicates a purity of purpose and action. We need to cast off distractions, and focus on the thing that is most important to us.
- Three angels signals harmony, completeness, and the divine. Indeed, the triad or trinity is a powerful symbol with deep roots in culture and history. In Greek mythology there are three Fates, the triad also plays a central role in Celtic religion, and of course, there is the Holy Trinity. Therefore, a message carried by three angels is very potent, and may involve all of our body, mind and spirit.
- Multiple angels suggest good fortune, divine support, or spiritual fortitude. Angels guard and guide us. Therefore, having multiple angels watching over us, is a sign of great protection, and also an indication of a promising future.
If we are one of the angels in our dream, then likely, we have done something good and pure, we are planning to embark on a journey of spirituality, or planning to do God’s work.
Male or female angels
- Femininity is associated with the Venus symbol, which captures love, beauty, prosperity, and fertility.
- Masculinity is associated with the Mars symbol, which captures war, savagery, guardianship, and virility.
The masculinity or femininity of the angels in our dreams, also constitutes part of the message that they carry.
Actions, expressions, and environment
Finally, actions and expressions are also important. What did the faces of the angels convey, and how did we feel in their presence?
- A calm expression indicates that we are looking for some peace and quiet. Our life may be hectic at the moment, and we may need some protection from our daily noise and activity. We may be seeking sanctuary, some time for reflection, or spiritual comfort.
- A happy expression signals that we are feeling confident about our present and future. It may also signify a recent positive achievement, or the expectation of some imminent good news.
- A sad expression suggests future challenges and possibly heartache. However, we have a guardian angel watching over us, so we will ultimately prevail.
- An angry expression implies some mistake, wrong-doing, or sin. We need to admit our mistake, make amends, and try to do better in the future.
Similarly, the actions of our dream angels also carry meaning. An angel that is brandishing a sword in warning, will have a different message than one who is handing us his sword, or one who is standing still, with his sword pointed to the ground.
If we are being handed something, then we may need to perform an important task, or go on a quest for our spiritual well being. The nature of the task or quest will rely on the object handed to us. On the other hand, an angel standing with his sword pointed down, may be guarding us from something. Perhaps we need to be vigilant, check our spiritual defenses, and watch out for sinful temptations that may lead us astray.
Actions may also indicate immediacy of the message, in particular, whether we need to attend to it very soon, sometime in the near future, or NOW!
The environment surrounding our angel is also important. An angel standing in the middle of a storm, signifies spiritual turbulence, whereas one who is standing in a calm pool of water, signifies peace and relaxation.
Are Dream Angels Real?
When we dream of angels, there is always the question of whether the angels are real and sent by God, or whether they are a manifestation of our subconscious mind.
Studies show that a large percentage of Americans believe in angels.
- A poll in 2008 by the Baylor University Institute for Studies of Religion, shows that 55% of 1700 respondents, believe that they were protected from harm by a guardian angel.
- A 2007 Pew poll revealed that a whopping 68% of respondents believe that angels or demons are active in our world. Up to 20% describe encounters with either a heavenly or demonic being.
However, some argue that angel dreams and visitations are the result of our subconscious mind only. They further propose that visitations that occur during the day could be the result of lucid dreaming. It could also be the result of a hallucination or trance.
Are angels real?
As with all things spiritual, that is difficult to prove or fully disprove. The belief in angels, I think, is a very personal thing.
However, if through belief we gain hope, solace, and spiritual strength, then isn’t that the very purpose of an angelic guide and protector? And if so, then perhaps angels exist within us, if we but dare to see.
I had a vivid dream of a male as a silhouette in black. We spoke and I remember getting very close to this male. My feeling was good and I remember laying close to his neck area and could feel is chest hair of facial hair in my hands. The touch was so real and woke up still feelimg for him. I felt very strongly for this male and keep saying I can’t let myself fall for him. I can’t do this again.. I can’t do this again.. And i woke from my sleep. But still felt him.. But I felt a little sad almost empty. I knew it was a dream but I don’t know what it means. I know I lost someone I felt so strongly about recently and more strongly than i really wanted to. I am very upset cause I let my self care for him and I’m alone and hurt at my expenses. So i am very upset with my self.
I had a dream last night of angels . I looked up to the sky and the the cloud covered behind the moutain .i noticed they were shaped as eyes and as the full head or shpe appeared the clouds kept moving and multiple angels were all over . 6 months ago, I dream that I encounter the Angel of Death..I wonder what that mean??
This morning between 9am and 12noon,I dreamed of several angels lifting me up in the sky after I was chased by multiple caterpillar digging the streets. I was rolling on the ground and then all of a sudden the ground started lifting up from behind me like I was going to be covered up. Then I saw that I was being carried up into the sky. The sky was gray but several angels had a circle around me taking me up in the sky. I later noticed that they left me by a hospital and I could not walk. I could only crawl. The hospital attendants did not bring a wheel chair but kept urging me to move forward because are going to room 208. I was fighting my way through people at the hospital to make it to room 208 by crawling on the floor. When I saw room 208 it was a very busy part of the hospital because there was a stand selling some kind of food and I was appalled and said what in the world is this? Then I looked up and saw 208 with a very bright light and next to it was 206 then I woke up.
ive had 4 or 5 dreams with angels in them the 1st was the angel Gabriel in the dream the room was all white there was a man with long blonde hair he said his name was Gabriel he had a suit and tie on the tie had different countries flags I said what is the tie about he said im watching over the world the he pointed at a picture of an eagle on the wall and said I was like the talons I also had a dream were 2 angels was standing outside my window and 1 of them said I see the color green I also had a dream were this big beast was standing over me it had horns and a body of a like a horse then a angels crash through my window and they begin fighting the angel punched it then pulled out its sword and pierced it on its side and the beast made a crying sound and crashed out the window then a bunch of angels landed and begin chasing it the very next week I had a dream about the same beast except this time no horns I kicked her and she went out the window then I find my self outside with 3 angels 1 of the angels grabbed it and 1 of the other angels said I glad we caught her the same week I had dream angels was flying down and landed outside my window there was a whole group I went out and 1 told me to sit indian style and told me to lift off the ground were I was floating and just 2 nights ago I had a dream I seen reflections on my wall with wings flapping I opened the window and 3 little men with daggers was there we begin talking first they she said you cant die and I said I can but im to strong to die from the demons attacks the brain the heart and the colon then I told them im capable of reading messages and time they excited about this then an angel landed on the roof

I dreamt of angels last night.
In my dream I was in a home and looked outside and noticed the clouds outside looked thick and very think in white and grey
When I said to everyone looks how strange
I went outside and realized those were not clouds they were Angels it appeared to be thousands of them together moving slowly in the sky.
I was telling people to come outside and be joy. All one person said that’s beautiful

I had a similar dream like this last night. Except I was outside and remember we were running from them and we realize it was angels snatching people up.
I had a dream years ago when I was younger in which I was flying over green pastures and a beautiful lake. With me was a female angel dressed in white along with 3 or 4 angels in the background. I remember feeling so much joy and bliss. I remember seeing the main female angel smiling as we fly towards the sky in a spiral. It was by far the best dream i have ever had in my life. What does this mean? Are these my spirit guides?

I have dreamt of transparent angels against a blue sky too! Many of them, in some formation after praying for a sign that God exists. It was magnificent, fierce and stunning.

I dreamt that saw an angle,they all put on white garment and they had no face, I was standing close to them but I was scared because they had no face. Then later in the dream I saw there face and they wear smiling with me I was calm. And again when I was 6 years old I was sitting at the corridor of our house and I just say I should look at the cloud, the next thing I saw was three angles in the cloud I was very happy cause that was the first time I saw an angel. They where walking in the cloud. But it was not a dream. I don’t know what it means.

Hello I’ve dreamt I seen a little angel I don’t know if boy or girl as I got closer I noticed the were splashing in the font with holy water , and the nearer I got to the angel the brighter the light became on the left wing iwas blinded by the light and couldn’t get so close as to touch them anybody have any ideas
I was to always see so many things in my dears, sometimes in to help people from troubles, sometimes it shows what troubles to come my way the next day, sometimes it shows someone in danger, from the age of 10 years old. I kept on telling my mum about this and mum protected me. times went by and so many things happen in my life. but it all showed me by my dreams and I was able to avoid every problem that came my way. because I always believed in my God. so many dangers ha pend d in my life. when i was 23, years old. I meet with a big accented and I just didnt know anything .still I wake up after 3days and just I saw was my leg lifted up and I was in hospital.. so then I asked mum what happen mum said God have saved your life.. because when it happen I remember my saying God take care of us.. thats it.. so when mum said that I said thank God I am a live to day.. so my mum told me the story how are car was damage and that I was stuck in the car.. under the drivers seat.. but I was happy to see my mum nothing was wrong with all 3of them it was only me.. from my side the damage. well my body was perfect nothing broken just only a dislocation hip and knee. everyone in the hospital was saying thank God nothing was wrong with me.. for seeing the car no one could believe that we were alive.. thank to God for all his protection.. Other day when I went on camping after mass and healing and confection ,, we all went to bed and that night I saw the holy sprite.. I saw Jesus, and angels ,,it was so beautiful which I just didnt want to wake up .. it was a voice saying my child no matter what life come your way .. remember that I am with you your angel will guide you always and be with you ..I just didnt know what to do ..Lord I said and when I wake up I was keeling on my bed with tears in my eyes and my room mate asked me carel are you ok .. I said yes .. at evening mass I told pastor about the dears and pastor said God has a plan for you to do just follow and do it.. dont worry of any one just do what is right .. I had a dream years ago but I still remember it vividly.
I’m was with a man, a partner for hiking. We were hiking a mountain until we reached the top. The sky was so beautiful that time. We heard someone calling us to return and eat so we went down. I saw a bench however only a little space is available. I was so tired so I went towards the bench but my partner sat on the bench first. what happened to the saying, “Ladies First”, I thought and I glared at him. Suddenly, a man stood up and offered me his sit. Since that time, we were always together. We talked together, laughed and held hands together. It felt as if he’s my other half. He completed me. I still remember him having pure white wings and he always granted my wishes. However, I took it for granted. I wished for impossible things to the point we argued, then he suddenly disappeared. I was lost during that time, I couldn’t find him. I regretted what I had done for my own selfishness. I really want to say sorry.
At last, I found him, at a wide plain. He was looking, dazed towards something. The sun.
The sun looked like a huge ball of fire coming towards us. And I knew from then on, that everything will die.
I called his name, “Cheongsa” ( I researched his name and found out that it’s a korean word for ANGEL)
He look at me and I ran up to him. I hugged him tight and cupped his face. I apologized to him for everything I’ve done. He sadly smiled and said that he forgives me then he said, ” Annie (my name), my world is going to die and so am I. I love you since my eyes laid upon you. I’m sorry for leaving you alone. I’m sorry for dying, for making you cry. Please, after this, don’t forget me as you live your life. I promise to come back, in your life, in your world and I’ll never leave you again. I love you”.
We stared at each other as my tears fell. And I said that I love him also. Then he kissed me.
I woke up from that dream, crying as I looked at the moon that’s shining through the window. It felt real. I can still feel his lips on mine. Until now, I never forgot him.

I had a dream the other night that I was in a colosseum type of place and me and my mom were standing in front of these huge pillars. I eyed an extra huge one, one that was huger than any of the others. And all of a sudden, on top of the pillar, a very dark purple (almost blue) sprouted from the pillar, and a huge and magnificent angel sprouted out of it. It was glowing with gold light around it. It didn’t have a distinct face, but I knew it was smiling at me and my mom. I woke up with awe. I think it might have been Archangel Michael since it sprouted from his color and the feeling I was having from it. It was a terrific dream.
