Angels are messengers from God. They protect us, guide us, or carry out other heavenly tasks.
Therefore, angel dreams symbolize a greater force that is watching over us, directing us, sheltering us, or trying to show us something important, which is hidden. The important part about angel dreams, is in translating the message within, based on what is currently happening in our spiritual and physical life.
The message can be a shared joy of something divine that has happened, a blessing of good things to come, or a warning of something we should prepare for.
Interpreting Our Dream About Angels
To interpret our dream, we want to pay special attention to the angels.
- What were the angels wearing? What is the color and texture of their wings?
- What were the angels carrying?
- Is there only a single angel or multiple angels?
- Are our dream angels male or female?
- What were the actions or expressions of the angels?
What were the angels wearing
The color and material of the angel’s clothes and wings, are part of the message that they convey.
- White clothes and wings indicate purity, peace, blessings, and rejuvenation. We may be at peace with ourselves and our life. Alternatively, the white angels may be telling us that to achieve inner peace, we need to seek greater spiritual support, need to be cleansed, and need to focus on the purity of our actions.
- Colorful clothes and wings suggest playfulness and joy. We may be looking forward to something happy and hopeful in our future, which could be a new relationship, new job, promotion, inheritance, or some other good fortune.
- Black clothes and wings signal a warning of some kind. Our physical or spiritual well-being could be in danger, we could be burdened by sin or guilt, and we may need to take some action to heal ourselves.
What were the angels holding
The items held by the angels or carried on their person, will also have great significance. We want to examine each object carefully, explore what each of them symbolizes, as well as what they each mean to us.
- Objects of knowledge such as a book or scroll, indicates greater clarity for the future, and confidence in our actions.
- Objects of war such as a sword or staff, signals that we may be experiencing some inner turmoil in our life or some disturbance in our soul. We may need to do battle to regain our spiritual equilibrium.
- Objects of love and peace such as an olive brand or a dove implies hope, care, devotion, and self-sacrifice. We may have a difficult journey ahead of us, but we have faith in a brighter future.
- Food and drink suggests that we are in need of spiritual nourishment. We may be feeling depleted and tired as a result of our daily struggles. The angel may be telling us that we need to take some time for ourselves, and refocus on our inner self and spiritual well-being.
Number of angels
- A single angel indicates a purity of purpose and action. We need to cast off distractions, and focus on the thing that is most important to us.
- Three angels signals harmony, completeness, and the divine. Indeed, the triad or trinity is a powerful symbol with deep roots in culture and history. In Greek mythology there are three Fates, the triad also plays a central role in Celtic religion, and of course, there is the Holy Trinity. Therefore, a message carried by three angels is very potent, and may involve all of our body, mind and spirit.
- Multiple angels suggest good fortune, divine support, or spiritual fortitude. Angels guard and guide us. Therefore, having multiple angels watching over us, is a sign of great protection, and also an indication of a promising future.
If we are one of the angels in our dream, then likely, we have done something good and pure, we are planning to embark on a journey of spirituality, or planning to do God’s work.
Male or female angels
- Femininity is associated with the Venus symbol, which captures love, beauty, prosperity, and fertility.
- Masculinity is associated with the Mars symbol, which captures war, savagery, guardianship, and virility.
The masculinity or femininity of the angels in our dreams, also constitutes part of the message that they carry.
Actions, expressions, and environment
Finally, actions and expressions are also important. What did the faces of the angels convey, and how did we feel in their presence?
- A calm expression indicates that we are looking for some peace and quiet. Our life may be hectic at the moment, and we may need some protection from our daily noise and activity. We may be seeking sanctuary, some time for reflection, or spiritual comfort.
- A happy expression signals that we are feeling confident about our present and future. It may also signify a recent positive achievement, or the expectation of some imminent good news.
- A sad expression suggests future challenges and possibly heartache. However, we have a guardian angel watching over us, so we will ultimately prevail.
- An angry expression implies some mistake, wrong-doing, or sin. We need to admit our mistake, make amends, and try to do better in the future.
Similarly, the actions of our dream angels also carry meaning. An angel that is brandishing a sword in warning, will have a different message than one who is handing us his sword, or one who is standing still, with his sword pointed to the ground.
If we are being handed something, then we may need to perform an important task, or go on a quest for our spiritual well being. The nature of the task or quest will rely on the object handed to us. On the other hand, an angel standing with his sword pointed down, may be guarding us from something. Perhaps we need to be vigilant, check our spiritual defenses, and watch out for sinful temptations that may lead us astray.
Actions may also indicate immediacy of the message, in particular, whether we need to attend to it very soon, sometime in the near future, or NOW!
The environment surrounding our angel is also important. An angel standing in the middle of a storm, signifies spiritual turbulence, whereas one who is standing in a calm pool of water, signifies peace and relaxation.
Are Dream Angels Real?
When we dream of angels, there is always the question of whether the angels are real and sent by God, or whether they are a manifestation of our subconscious mind.
Studies show that a large percentage of Americans believe in angels.
- A poll in 2008 by the Baylor University Institute for Studies of Religion, shows that 55% of 1700 respondents, believe that they were protected from harm by a guardian angel.
- A 2007 Pew poll revealed that a whopping 68% of respondents believe that angels or demons are active in our world. Up to 20% describe encounters with either a heavenly or demonic being.
However, some argue that angel dreams and visitations are the result of our subconscious mind only. They further propose that visitations that occur during the day could be the result of lucid dreaming. It could also be the result of a hallucination or trance.
Are angels real?
As with all things spiritual, that is difficult to prove or fully disprove. The belief in angels, I think, is a very personal thing.
However, if through belief we gain hope, solace, and spiritual strength, then isn’t that the very purpose of an angelic guide and protector? And if so, then perhaps angels exist within us, if we but dare to see.
When I had the weight loss surgery and I was in ICU I was in a coma for 15 days Sue I seen an angel she had on a pink dress and white wings and she said where are you going. I got a lot of plans for you to remind you that have pronounce me dead but when I seen the angel I start taking the tubes out of my nose God gave me a second chance so I was wondering all these many years who was my angel I kind of figured it was my cousin because the way her hair was but you couldn’t see no face to come to find out it was my cousin and it made me feel so good to know that God showed me that he that one of my favorite cousins that’s in heaven with him to help me get through the difficult situation I was in I just thank God for giving me a second chance I really want to know what does it mean when a angel have on the pink dress cuz I always thought they have white dresses

This was my 6 times dreaming of ANGELS and God.. It was very clear that I can always remember when I woke up. I saw clouds open and a bright light and also trumpet sound , plenty of Angels and I always said God is here…I saw God in my dreams a very shining lihe with a golden chair .. Had the same dream in 1989 and early 2019. Saint Michael, who was about 25 to 30 feet tall, wearing full Roman battle gear, no helmet, dark curly long hair, holding a sword with both hands, sword point up and out. I was standing to his left, also with a sword in hand, pointing up and looking at it – very bright.
We were both on the same dirt plateau, about two acres in size. There were flames shooting up as high as Michael and filled all around the plateau but not on it. In the flames in the distance, I could see demons flying around out in the flames with children and babies being carried by the daemons’ feet or claws. The demon’s face was hideous, with a perverted smile, and short horns on its head. Michael then turns his head to me and says in a strong stern voice “WE MUST PROTECT THE CHILDREN!”…
That’s all I remember. I feel it means that we need to do whatever it takes IN THS LIFE to stop abortions, protect children from pedophiles, make everyone aware of child sacrifice, and help build God’s army on Earth in preparation for the afterlife.
A mother, father and loving adult are God in a child’s eyes. We must protect the children.
Last night I had a dream. I rarely dream about stuff and half the time I never even remember the dreams, whether I felt scared or not. But the dream I had is as clear as day. God was talking to his people about his angels. The humans felt that he favored the angels more than them. I do not know how I appeared but God summoned me. Here is where it gets funny, the humans were on the second last floor of an incomplete building I appeared on the last. In order to talk to the people I had to go to the second last floor, mind you this was a very tall building, so I go off the ledge jump and hope to land on the second last floor but unfortunately I tripped and fell down to the very ground floor and people were like “how is he an angel?” and I too was shocked that I had survived the fall and then from the ground I looked up and I said “like that” and suddenly my angel wings appeared. People were amazed however they kept questioning how they could be his greatest creation. I only remember telling them the differences between angels and humans and how we are created to serve particular duties. Suddenly God tells me to pick up my armor and show them my might. Angel Gabriel and Angel Micheal appeared before me and dressed me with my armor. Then God told me “I will throw this rock and once you grab it, your sword will appear and they will see your might” on the first try I could barely step off the stone and jump because it appeared that I was learning how to use my wings for the first time so I was not good at summoning them or flying. So I turn to God and say “the stone is too high I cannot jump” so he points to the hill and he says go to that hill run towards me I will throw the stone, so this time it was on the second try that I did manage to grab the stone and suddenly I felt a lot of aura around me, I felt powerful, that’s when I radiated with light and those circles hanging around my head. Suddenly there were so many angels showing up before me and I do not know how I knew I could tell who they were but I knew there names and they looked familiar to me like we had always known each other. So I land on the building but because of not knowing how control my strength, I ended up breaking part of it and boxes of pizza suddenly appeared before us and every angel flew to pick a slice. I really do not know or understand what this whole dream meant and how I could tell that the man in royal robes and a face I could never see was actually God but when he spoke I knew God had said something. Can anyone interpret this for me because to be honest I had lost my faith do not even remember the last time I prayed
This was a beautiful dream! You have lost your faith, but GOD is calling you back. Your a protector and you have to believe in yourself. Your lack of faith in you is partially why you have lost faith in GOD. He hears your heart, the true you that Hope’s he is really still here and for you. He Is Always For You! He is your strength to move, jump, and even fly if you need to. He is your strength and stronghold your shield and buckler. I had a dream I was on my back porch smoking which I stopped smoking for years I looked up in the sky and saw three female angels one had brown hair blonde and red hair in a white robe they were in human form flying down behind each they look like they were moving their hands as if they were playing a harp they were looking at me smiling but the clouds were dark yet some parts were bright i said God i trust you and believe in you after I said that it was peace very peaceful they were still smiling and flying then I woke up
I had a dream a male single angel came to me he was concerned and spoke in ancient language I believe is not heard of or a lost language of Angel’s. He told me that in order to save the human race. I would have to take this heavy sword and save the world from what comes from hell. As I accepted the duties before me. I changed having powers and strength and odd thing I gain wings as well from this angel who visited me in my sleep. It has disturbed me since on what it has meant and I have done searching on my own of things. In my life when this dream happen I was living on my own and was also pregnant with a baby who later passed away from heart failure. My dream is still something that is leaving me very confused on why would a human like me be told such things and to be asked to keep humans safe from basically evil or demons or the darkness that can consume them on earth.

I dreamed god came to me and told me I had 7 a go.there was a board that he Showed me each one we both counted them one by one with god circleing. Each one in yellow please tell me what this mean
Wow I had a similar dream. I’m not sure what you were writing in about 7? But it reminded me of my dream where while I was sleeping in my room ( if this was a dream it felt very real, as if I woke up and really saw this in my room) all of a sudden I saw 7 yellow dots in a row from top to bottom. Then I said who is here, who are you. I felt like they were angels but I wasn’t sure. All of a sudden the 7 dots lit up one by one and as each one lit up they made a “ ting” sound like a bell. Lol. So I sat there in amazement as I realized that a few days prior I had prayed hard for protection. And 7 angels appeared. Now what’s ironic is that i was praying to Arch angels for protection. I never knew there was 7, I only knew about 4 of them. So now I got to know about the other 3. And learned all their names. I think your dream could have meant 7 angels. 2017 when I was in Hawaii, I dreamt of angels back home in American Samoa and it was daylight they were blowing horns and coming straight down to earth. I walked outside the house all my neighbors stopped and look up in the sky. Some angels were holding flags and some horns. They all came on earth and started knocking on each neighbors door. As my sister was talking to one of the angels that are holding a script, I walked towards them and ask ” I don’t remember what I say” but the angel told me that’s my name is not on the list. I was scared, terrified that I woke up anxiously that it was just a dream. I wonder what’s the whole meaning though..
To prepare your soul for heaven
July 29 2019. I dreamed of a Female Angel with her back to me. Her Head was turntowards me like looking over her Shoulder.Near her was this Beautiful Horse, couldn’t make out the color.All I know is I felt very Happy & at Peace. I have been going through alot lately like all of us do. I lost my Husband 19 Months ago. One of my long time friends 6 months & my only Sister 5 months ago. Others things has happened .I don’t know if this has anything to do wirh this or not.
I dream of three angels flying way up all beautiful and pure white , but as they was flying the feathers kerping fall on top of me and it had blood on the feathers, as I call out to archangel st Michael and ask him what was happening I woke up!!
I dreamt of touching an angels wing . I stroked down each single white feather of the wing . It moved up and down slightly with each breath . This wing was massive . It was taller than anything I could ever imagine . It went on forever . The angel did not show me the rest of him as I was beginning to feel frightened and with that it all disappeared and my subconscious drifted to something else

i had a dream and in it i was in prayer some one put hands on me and i had a whisper in my left ear a sweet warm voice that my ear become hot. the language i never understood. it seemed angelic all i said ways thank you Lord. I first resisted but in happened the second time. The dream was so real that its now 2days my spirit is still moved by it

i had a dream this morning that i was looking out a window to the sky and saw clouds As i was watching the clouds i saw angels flying by . then all of a sudden and angel came to my window,smiling and handed me what looked like a spear or staff with a long white feather on the end of it and then flew away. I had a recurring dream as a child. My house caught on fire and I ran through the house as the smoke was right behind me. I made it outside and turned around to watch my mother running but didn’t make it. Her screams haunted me and was very terrified. A hovering angel was next to me while I watched in horror. I had this dream many times but finally understand (I think) why I was having this dream.

This morning on June 10, 2019, at 5:00am I woke from a dream in which I was walking near an interstate where there was a business I used to work for before I became disabled. As I was nearing an exit a car stopped and a lady got out and pointed towards a fence where I just had passed and an angel was leaning against it. The angel was male, African in appearance, white wings but with blood here and there and wearing a breastplate and greaves. He had no weapon but looked as he had been a battle. The expression on his face was calm. Me and this white lady ran to attend this angel as several other people began stopping and getting out of their vehicles. Three of them were large men; one had a .44 Magnum hand gun and pointed at the angel. Immediately the lady and I began to protest and then an light emulated from angel and his appearance changed. His wings were now pure white, his armor undamaged, all the while he remained calm. He did not speak but the lady did. She said to me “Are you ready?” as we each took hold of his hands. Next thing we are both in the sky; the lady had an expression of pure joy as I looked at the earth below so amazed. The earth was rounded; the sky was ethereal blue. Next thing we both where on in a field bordered by trees. I noticed the angel walking ahead towards the edge. I woke up.
Wow that’s amazing! Can I ask what your disability is? Or how it occurred? Only bc I’m thinking that this is your guardian Angel that fought to save your life. And perhaps you may also have that place in heaven waiting for you to be a guardian Angel as well. I think you should pray and ask his name, it will come to you in a dream or some how. And let him know that you are okay, and that you appreciate his efforts in saving you. Maybe he feels that he failed bc you are disabled?
