It will take a whole lifetime to detail the few attempts at relationships with some of my colleagues. Ladies, my best advice is to empower yourselves and make the $$$ yourself. Do not marry solely for money, trust me you will regret, make sure the guy has the personality to back it up. It will take a saint to treat you the way you deserve when you depend on him financially. Today I am married to a man who does not make as much but has the personality of an angel and I will not have it any other way.

This advice about marrying physicians is hilarious. Today, physicians may make good money. Much of it goes to overhead. Student loans are usually huge and take years to pay off. Many women think they are good catches. They often have big egos and affairs. They often marry a woman who will work to put them through med school. Med students do not make big bucks and work long exhausting hours.
When they are finished with the rigors of med school, they often dump the faithful and supportive workhorse wife and marry a trophy wife!
Many surgeons are alcoholics due to the pressure of the job. They sometimes have gambling issues as well. Bye bye $$$$$
Marry someone who is mature and ready for commitment. A person of high moral character, who thinks you are the best thing to come into their life. An ethical, hardworking, financially responsible person who is thoughtful and kind. A gentle sense of humor does not hurt either.
The best advice is to marry an intelligent, hardworking person with good financial

I totally agree with Jane. I dated a narcissistic for 4 years and looking back I should have left him a month after I met him. Yes, they are irresistibly charming, very manipulative and can make you believe anything. They will even cry when they have to just to make you believe them.
Ladies, please, please don’t let the charm fool you. Listen to the little voice in your heart, it is usually right.
Otherwise, I like: “You want to find a man who appreciates you, and who will put you above everything else, even himself”
That said he has to have invested in himself, which makes him confident in himself and make you admire him. Et voila!

I dated a narcissist for nearly 4 years, they are compulsive liars and cheats, arrogant, pretentious and madly in love with….themselves, don’t go there, they are very manipulative and clever and can make you believe black is white and vice versa, can put on an act until you are hooked and they know it and then it’s pure and utter hell. Avoid them like the plague (they are usually very charming but once you really get to know them, it’s fake…live with them first if you must but DO NOT marry them, you’ll regret it for eternity especially if you have children, we did and coparenting with them is hell on earth!). Marry a nice boring guy who worships you!

Probably good advice for women but doesn’t honesty count for anything these days. A good partner could be totally opposite [its said opposites attract], the important thing is, they accept you as you are and not try to change you. If you need to change you will do it on your own, eventually.

In reply to Suzel. Thanks Suzel. Yeah getting over an ex can be difficult. It took me a long time to get over my first love. The best way is to keep very busy, try out new things, and meet new people. I quickly forgot about the ex after I went on an internship and met lots of interesting new people. :)
